Who we are

Healthy n Happy is the community development trust for Cambuslang and Rutherglen.  Our vision is for Cambuslang and Rutherglen to be the healthiest and happiest places to live in Scotland.  We work towards this by providing opportunities for people to actively improve their lives and the places where they live, work and play.  We are a community owned organisation, governed by local people and all our work is directed by local priorities.  We now have twenty six staff, a bank of 30 sessional workers and over 110 volunteers.

What we do

Over the last 14 years we have grown and developed successfully - we have a high degree of local support, both from local people and our partners and funders. Each year, around 6,000 local people take part in our organisation’s work and we deliver work across up to 98 different local venues. You can read our most recent Annual Report by clicking here. We undertake a wide range of activities which meet our aim of improving the lives of people living in Cambuslang and Rutherglen. We currently group our activities and services under seven service areas:

  • Supporting Communities
  • Mental and Emotional Health and Wellbeing
  • Promoting Healthy Choices
  • Volunteering Support and Co-ordination
  • Family Health and Resilience
  • ReConnect
  • CamGlen Radio
  • CamGlen Bike Town

You can view all of our current services and activities by going to Services.

    Our History

Healthy n Happy was established by local people in 2002 as a Healthy Living Initiative however we have significantly evolved and diversified since then.  As well as our core health and wellbeing initiatives we have:

    • Launched CamGlen, our community radio station
    • Enhanced local neighbourhoods through community engagement and capacity building
    • Established a social enterprise arm and set up our newest initiative, CamGlen Bike Town.

To reflect these changes, in June of 2012 we became a Community Development Trust which is appropriate to the broader role the organisation now takes in supporting the health and wellbeing of local communities in Cambuslang and Rutherglen.  We are supported by a range of funders and partners who support our work.
