It is with great sadness that we report that after a short illness Archie passed away on Friday 26 March. We offer our condolences to Archie's family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Archie was involved in community work of one kind or an other for thirty years,an elder of Cambuslang Parish Church, was a founder member of the Lightburn Elderly Project (LEAP) and was Vice Chairperson. He was also Vice Charperson of the South East Area Lifestyle (SEAL) a health project in the Gorbals and recently stepped down as Chair of CTEC after 10 years.
Also a member of the Cambuslang Area Housing Forum and South Lanarkshire Central Liaison Group.

I have for many years been involved with a variety of organisations, doing voluntary work and fund raising etc.
I was a local Councillor and Justice of the Peace and became a director of the Cambuslang & Rutherglen Health & Food Project (CHAF) which then merged with the Healthy Living Initiative (HLI) to form the C.H.I in 2004, where I am now Chairperson.

I was a board member of the Cambuslang & Rutherglen Health and Food Project before the merger with the Healthy Living Initiative in 2004 when the Cambuslang & Rutherglen CHI was established where I am the Vice Chairperson. Also a former councillor who is a founder member of the Fernhill Senior Citizens Club which celebrated it's 40th anniversary in March this year.

I spend a great amount of my time in voluntary work, due to early retirement due to ill health, which ranges from my church, to the radio station, local credit union and of course the Community Health Initiative. I have been involved since inception of what was initially the Healthy Living Project.

I have been engaged in the voluntary sector, mainly housing for over twenty years.I am treasurer of West Whitlawburn Housing Co-op as well as CHI. As well as these positions I am on the committee of the Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre, which applied for the funding that lead to the forming of the CHI.

John Cassidy is a former Head of Service in the education department in South Lanarkshire Council. Now retired and particularly interested in the promotion of healthy lifestyles among young people and in the ways in which young people can be directly involved in improving the quality of life in their communities.

Originally from Malawi, I have been involved in a number of community activities including as a friend of St Martin's Hospital and School Milandi in Malawi. Also a school board member in Lanarkshire, a member of the Scottish Malawi Network, and various forms of activism and writing to promote education, health and social injustice.

Being brought up in a medical household, I have always been aware and interested in the health of people in the community and how it could be improved. I have been a member and office bearer of a number of community organisations and for fourteen years was employed as manager of a community voluntary organisation. As the current Chair of the Cambuslang & Rutherglen Public Partnership Forum, I am keen to let the community’s voice about health to be heard in the NHS.

I have been involved in the voluntary sector, mainly housing for about 20 years. I am currently the Chairperson of West Whitlawburn Housing Co-op and also the Vice Chairperson of Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre, having been involved with the centre for 12 years. I am also on the Out Of School Care committee that operates successfully from the Resource Centre. I have now been a board member of CHI for 9 months, I am hoping to serve on the board as long as I have on the other committees.
