Steps to Excellence

What is it? 
Steps to Excellence is a renowned personal development programme which uses interactive learning to build confidence, challenge negative thoughts, and release potential for success.  It is delivered in a group setting by a qualified facilitator. 

Who is it for? 
On a personal basis, this course is ideal for a wide range of who are looking to make the most of themselves and their lives. 

On an organisational level, the course provides staff members with the tools to work towards objectives as individuals and as a team, becoming goal-orientated, and focused on achievements and success.

Duration and format 
The course runs for 4 days, typically one day per week for 4 weeks

Individuals: £ 190 (There is no fee subsidy for this course.  You may use your ILA.  Please contact us for details before registration)

Businesses and organisations: £960 in organisation’s own premises within 10 mile radius, plus £50 pp (to cover cost of individual manual).

Getting The Most From Your Day

What is it? 
An enjoyable and highly effective workshop that brings together aspects of personal development and stress management, including positive thinking, time management and mood foods.

Who is it for? 
Participants of this workshop have highlighted increased personal awareness and ability to manage their stress.  Volunteers may find improvement in their ability to work with and support others.  Staff groups have reported the added benefit of team building and awareness of colleagues’ needs.

Mental Health Awareness

What is it? 
Sought-after programme, which raises awareness of mental health issues and responsibilities, for individuals and for businesses.  The workshops inform and increase understanding of our own and others’ mental and emotional health and wellbeing, and challenge stigma through knowledge and dialogue.  Includes practical approaches to the promotion of mental health improvement for individuals and for staff and clients.

Everyone. 
Workshops can be tailored for specific groups, including staff teams, groups of different ages, volunteers, managers

Duration and format 
The programme is offered in different formats according to need.  A general introduction workshop is of 2 hours duration.

Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid

What is it? 
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem.  This could be someone you know, a loved one, a colleague, or neighbour.  Recognising common signs early on, and being able to give appropriate help, can prevent a health problem from becoming worse and aid recovery.  SMHFA is an internationally recognised programme of simple steps that can be used to help a person in distress.

Who is it for? 
Adults who wish to increase their awareness of mental health and build their confidence and ability to assist people in accessing the help they need.  

Duration and format 
This is a 12-hour course, delivered in a formal group based setting.  The course can be delivered as 4 half days or 2 full days, over a number of weeks, or on consecutive days.

Individuals who live and work outwith the local area: £120
Individuals who work in the local area: £60

Health issues in the Community

What is it? 
A course designed for the community to explore social issues such as poverty, community development, power and health in an informal setting.

Everyone.

The course runs for 8 weeks and each sessions will be approx 3 hours.

SQA Radio Feature Production

What is it? 
This is an accredited SCQF level 6 course run in partnership with North Glasgow College. This is a practical unit where candidates will have the opportunity to develop skills in radio feature programme. The course covers such skills as script writing, research, basic audio editing and use of broadcast equipment.

Who is it for? 
Everyone. No prior knowledge of the subject is required

It is a 35 hour course and can be run according to the groups availability

Basic Alcohol & Drugs Awareness

What is it? 
A short, informal session looking at alcohol and it's effect on individuals and communities. The session will allow individuals the opportunity to:
- consider their own views and opinions on alcohol
- increases awareness of how much is too much and increase their understanding of what a unit of alcohol is
- consider how an individual can drink more sensibly and safely

Who is it for? 
The course can be tailored to particular groups - workplaces, young people, community groups and specific issues can be looked at in more detail.
