SIMPLE STEPS TO HELP REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL YOU DRINK
Know the strength of the alcohol - Different drinks have different strengths. Read the bottle label or check out the information on this website.
Watch your measures - Quite often people who pour drinks at home or parties usually pour larger drinks than standard UK pub measures (25ml). It is also easier to keep track of how much you are drinking if you avoid "topping up" drinks.
Drink water or soft drinks in between alcoholic ones - This will help slow your intake of alcohol and also help you drink less alcohol during the evening.
Slow down - Pace yourself, don't drink too quickly.
Avoid drinking in rounds - It is much harder to refuse a drink when you are in rounds. You may also find that you drink much quicker. try and insist on a soft drink if you have had enough or, if easier, buy yourself a soft drink when it is your round.
Make sure you have eaten - food makes the body absorb alcohol more slowly which then means that it won't enter the bloodstream as quickly.
