WHAT IS A UNIT?
A unit of alcohol is the amount that the body can safely get rid of in one hour. It equals 10 ml of pure alcohol.
It can be very difficult to know just how many units of alcohol you may consume as all drinks are different strengths and are served in different quantities.

The strength of a drink varies by brand. Many now display their unit content on the label to help promote sensible drinking. The list below gives you average unit levels for diffrent types of alcohol.
